10TH HUMANITARIAN MISSION OF THE SWISS CONFEDERATION TO THE EAST OF UKRAINE – 2500 TONS AT A COST OF 3.3 MILLION CHF
With the assistance and coordination of the MTOT to the East of Ukraine will arrive tenth humanitarian mission of the Swiss Confederation on 5th of June 2019. Total volume of cargo is about 2500 tons and the budget is 3.3 million CHF
The purpose of the mission, once again carried out by subdivision of Swiss humanitarian assistance Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC), ensuring humanitarian needs of civilians as within temporarily occupied territory, as Government controlled area of Ukraine.
First of all, humanitarian cargo is composed of chemical reagents for the purification of drinking water (aluminum sulfide, lime, absorbent carbon, etc.), which are extremely necessary for sewage treatment plants of Water company «Voda Donbasu». It will allow providing the water of the appropriate quality for another year to residents of Donetska oblast on both sides of contact line.
In addition, SDC will deliver the most necessary medical equipment and spare parts to it to healthcare institutions.
It should be noted that on 21-23rd of Mayunder authority of SDC chemical reagents for sewage treatment plants have already been transferred to Water company «VodaDonbasu» on Government controlled area of Ukraine, in particular, Pokrovsk – 20 trucks and Mariupol - 10 trucks.
As known, Government does not have access to temporarily occupied territory, respectively, there is no opportunity to provide necessary assistance to citizens of Ukraine and implement recovery of critical infrastructure affected by armed aggression of the Russian Federation.
Therefore, another mission by SDC has the utmost importance to ensure humanitarian needs of civilians, forced to live in adverse conditions of long conflict and temporarily occupied separate areas of Donetska and Luhanska oblasts.
