Ukraine is interested in Ukrainian and international community to keep attention to the issues of the temporarily occupied territories of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and part of Donetsk and Luhansk Oblasts. Also an important part is the process and quality of information channels from Government controlled area to the residents of the temporarily occupied territory.

In order to develop and establish these processes, the Ministry for Veterans Affairs, Temporarily Occupied Territories and Internally Displaced Persons of Ukraine initiated a meeting with mass media representatives, who through aggression from the Russian Federation were forced to leave Crimea and part of the territory of Luhansk and Donetsk Oblasts and continue their activities in the Government controlled territory.

Deputy Minister for Veterans Affairs, Temporarily Occupied Territories and Internally Displaced Persons of Ukraine on European Integration Oleksii Ilyashenko spoke about the position of the department to maximize the development of Ukrainian mass media working on the issues of Crimea and Donbas.

«Leadership of the government is fully aware that without the consolidation of efforts of all departments of the Government it is impossible to effectively resolve issues of the temporarily occupied territories, their reintegration in the future, and their residents - reintegration into the social and cultural space of Ukraine today. We are focused on serious, fundamental work and we urge the mass media to support us and join the development of information policy in this direction», ‒ noted Oleksii Ilyashenko.

The meeting was also attended by the Permanent Representative in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea Anton Korinevich and the First Deputy Chairman of the State Committee for Television and Radio Broadcasting Bohdan Chervak.

Anton Korinevich noted that there was a long-felt need for such meeting and thanked the Ministry for Veterans Affairs for its organization and raised issues.

«We perfectly understand the issues of the mass media that has moved from the temporarily occupied territories. The President’s Office has an open position that the informational component of state policy should be one of the determining ones», ‒ emphasised Anton Korinevich and expressed hope for effective cooperation and willingness to expedite the resolution of the issues of displaced mass media.

Mass media representatives noted that it is the first time a meeting is being held with them at this level. They also thanked for its initiation, spoke about their problematic issues and expressed a number of their suggestions on how the state can help to solve them.
