THE FACTS OF VIOLATIONS OF THE RIGHT TO FREEDOM OF RELIGION REQUIRES MAXIMUM CONSIDERATION AND INTERNATIONAL COVERAGE

The issues of effective recording of violations of the right to freedom of religion in the temporarily occupied territory of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and Sevastopol, information coverage of cases of violations of rights, including at international level, were discussed at the meeting of the subgroup on humanitarian issues of the Interdepartmental Working Group.

Also during the meeting the problem of protection of property rights of the OCU in the Crimean Peninsula was discussed, in particular the normalization of the issue of transfer to the community of the premises of the Saint Equal-to-the-Apostles Prince Volodymyr and Olha Cathedral in Simferopol, protection of cultural heritage, which belong to the church community.

«The purpose of our subgroup is to develop effective mechanisms for the protection of religious rights and freedoms of citizens in the temporarily occupied territory of Crimea and Sevastopol, which need to be implemented at the highest level. Property rights, ensuring rights in the courts, proper coverage of the facts of violations these are all the subject of the activities of the Ministry for Veterans Affairs», said moderator of the meeting, Head of the Department for Autonomous Republic of Crimea and Sevastopol at the Ministry for Veterans Affairs, Serhii Mokrenyuk.

The meeting was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports of Ukraine, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine, the Prosecutor's Office of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea.

The participants of the event stated that the successful decisions worked out in the issues of effective coverage of the situation regarding violation of the rights to freedom of religion on TOT, protection of property rights of the OCU can be a precedent and an example for more effective protection of the rights of citizens of Ukraine, that were violated as a result of temporary occupation of the Crimean Peninsula by the Russian Federation.
