PHYSIOTHERAPY AND PSYCHOLOGICAL ASSISTANCE FOR IDPS, ATO VETERANS AND THEIR FAMILIES FROM PERVOMAISK
Since 2014, the population of the city of Pervomaisk, Mykolaiv Oblast, has been replenished with internally displaced persons. In addition, many ATO veterans and their families live in the city and the district. Due to objective reasons, the need for physiotherapy rehabilitation and psychological assistance has increased.
In order to meet such needs of the population, in 2019, the rehabilitation department in Pervomaisk Primary Health Care Centre was modernized, namely, major repairs of part of the premises were made, three psychology rooms were equipped, medical equipment and simulators were purchased for rehabilitation. As a result, the number and efficiency of treatment and rehabilitation procedures has increased and the provision of psychological assistance has been introduced. To date, residents of the city and the whole Pervomaisk district are using the renovated rehabilitation department of Primary Health Care Centre.
In 2017, the local government of Pervomaisk participated in a grant sub-project competition organized by the Ministry for Temporarily Occupied Territories and Internally Displaced Persons of Ukraine with the financial support of the World Bank to meet the needs of IDPs, ATO veterans and their families.
The modernized department has been operating for some time, so we suggest to get acquainted with the impact of the sub-project.
