A TEAM OF SWISS EXPERTS COMPLETED A TWELFTH MISSION TO THE EAST OF UKRAINE
Since the beginning of the armed conflict in the East of Ukraine in 2014, the Swiss Confederation, in cooperation with the Government of Ukraine and other international humanitarian organizations, has regularly provided humanitarian assistance to persons adversely affected by the armed aggression in Donetsk and Luhansk Oblasts on both sides of the contact line.
From February 26 to March 3, the members of the humanitarian mission of the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) carried out another mission to assess humanitarian needs in the East of Ukraine. During the mission, a team of Swiss experts visited medical institutions, particularly in Luhansk, Donetsk, Rubizhne, Lysychansk, Schastia and Stanytsia Luhanska. There was also an assessment of the needs of enterprises that provide drinking water to the population of Donetsk and Luhansk Oblasts, in particular, the “Company "Water of Donbas" and Communal Enterprise "Popasniansky Vodokanal”.
It should be noted that the planned SDC budget for humanitarian operations in Ukraine for 2020 is about 3 million Swiss francs. This is the largest budget that has been envisaged for Ukraine since 2014.
The twelfth humanitarian mission of the SDC to the East of Ukraine was carried out with the assistance and coordination of the Ministry for Veterans Affairs, Temporarily Occupied Territories and Internally Displaced Persons of Ukraine.
