The Ministry for Reintegration of Temporary Occupied Territories held a meeting with representatives of the Regional Council of Ukrainians of Crimea (KRUK). This is an institutional association of Crimean organizations representing the interests of Ukrainians in Crimea, which includes well-known Crimeans. Representatives of the Regional Council of Ukrainians of Crimea provided the Ministry with documented facts of persecution by the Russian Federation in the eparchy (diocese) of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine (OCU) in the occupied Crimea and the involvement of judges working in the interests of the occupation authorities in Crimea in these prosecutions, as well as adopted unlawful decisions on the OCU.

These documented facts will be transferred to the law enforcement agencies and the Prosecutor's office of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and Sevastopol city, which is currently located in Kyiv. "These documented facts will form the basis for criminal proceedings and will be another evidence in international courts concerning illegal actions and persecution by Russia in Crimea that impudently occupied part of Ukrainian territory and grossly violated rights of people to freedom of religion and norms of international law," said Ihor Yaremenko, Deputy Minister for Reintegration of Temporary Occupied Territories of Ukraine at the meeting with representatives of the Regional Council of Ukrainians of Crimea.

According to him, the Ministry for Reintegration should initiate sanctions against those citizens of Russia who work in the interests of the occupation authorities and adopted illegal court decisions to prohibit the activities of the OCU on the territory of the occupied Crimea.

The parties also discussed prospects of cooperation of the Ministry with representatives of the Regional Council of Ukrainians of Crimea in the humanitarian field, inter alia joint realization of cultural and educational initiatives, support of mass media, displaced from Crimea, representation of the interests of Ukrainian community in Crimea on the level of international organizations.
