According to Oksana Koliada, Minister for Veterans Affairs, Temporarily Occupied Territories and Internally Displaced Persons, the main task of imposing sanctions is to make everyone who violates the rights of people under occupation and contributes to the actions of the Russian Federation toxic.

She stated this during her speech at the Forum dedicated to the Day of Crimean Resistance to Russian Occupation "Age of Crimea".

“Sanctioning policy is one of the elements of long-term reintegration of the occupied territories. Its main task is to make everyone who violates the rights of people under occupation and contributes to the actions of the Russian Federation toxic. First of all, we are talking about those who organized and conducted fake elections, issued Russian passports, were involved in the construction of the Kerch Bridge, supplied goods and services to military objects of the Russian Federation, illegally carried out archaeological excavations, pursued Ukrainian and Crimean Tatar identity, and closed temples. We are coordinating this direction quite successfully with our partners - the USA, Canada, the European Union countries,”said OksanaKoliada.

According to human rights activists in 2019 on the Peninsula there were recorded 86 searches, 157 detentions, 194 interrogations, interviews, "conversations", 335 cases of arrest, 33 sentences against political prisoners of Crimea, and 252 extensions of detention. There were 578 cases of violations of the right to a fair trial, 90 cases of violations of the highest attainable level of physical and mental health, and 69 cases of the transfer of political prisoners.

At least 90 persons were persecuted on political and religious grounds on the Peninsula. Their number is constantly increasing. Among them are journalists NarimanMemedeminov, RemziBekirov, Osman Arifmemetov, RustemSheikhaliyev, RuslanSuleimanov, as well as human rights activists Emir-Usein Kuku and Server Mustafayev and others.
“Friends, I address each one of you - know, we clearly monitor all processes, we know and remember about you. All this will be included in the single indictment against the aggressor,” said the Minister.

She also noted that in the centre of Ukrainian Crimea were and is the interests of people and cultural identity. In the centre of the militarized, stolen Crimea are political interests, military aggression, arms rattling, and restriction of freedoms.
