A memorandum was signed on the establishment of a hub in Chonhar to ensure a comfortable crossing by citizens of the administrative line with the territory of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea temporarily occupied by Russia.
Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine, Minister for Reintegration of the Temporary Occupied Territories of Ukraine Oleksii Reznikov, Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine Vladyslav Krykliy, Head of the Kherson Regional State Administration Yuriy Gusev, General Director of JSC "Ukrzaliznytsia" Ivan Yurik and Retail Director of LLC "Socar Energy Ukraine" Serhii Kolenchenko have signed the memorandum.
“EECPs have to be as comfortable and functional as possible, they should be for people. There is a good will of the regional administration, a desire to assist from LLC "Socar Energy Ukraine", which is an investor, cooperation and support from JSC "Ukrzaliznytsia", a huge amount of work done by the Ministry of Infrastructure, which is the basis for further actions. When we have such a teamwork, the result will not take long and will be definitely positive. We have everything for that. People should know that they are remembered, cared for and worried about. The modernization of the EECP at Chonhar is only the first stage of further work,” noted Deputy Prime Minister Oleksii Reznikov.
Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine Vladyslav Krykliy said that talks about the importance of construction of a modern EECP went on since 2017.
“By joint efforts with JSC "Ukrzaliznytsia" the project was implemented in record speed, in just 2 months. And it has been working since last November. Today, together with our colleagues, we signed a Memorandum of Cooperation. EECP "Chonhar" will be modernized and provided with opportunities for convenient and prompt obtaining of necessary services by Ukrainians. The Russian Federation, as an aggressor country, captures by force, but we are returning people back by showing them care. Because we are the state for people,” said the Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine.
“At the service area of EECP "Chonhar" a hub will be established so that people crossing the administrative line with the temporarily occupied territory of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea could have a rest and use additional services. We are implementing this important project for our region with the support of the Ministry for Reintegration, Ministry of Infrastructure, JSC "Ukrzaliznytsia" and LLC "Socar Energy Ukraine". And today we have consolidated our intentions by signing of a relevant memorandum. There is no question, that this is another step for our citizens who live in the temporarily occupied territory,” added the Head of the Kherson Regional State Administration Yuriy Gusev.
Deputy Prime Minister emphasized that the Ministry for Reintegration has an intention to introduce a comprehensive approach to address the issue of proper arrangement of the EECP in Kherson Oblast at the administration line with our Peninsula as well, and at the EECP on the contact line in Donetsk and Luhansk Oblasts.
“And let's not forget that Crimea is Ukraine. I'm sure that Crimea will return soon. Remembering the song of the famous representative of the Crimean Tatar people, the Ukrainian singer Jamala, I'm tempted to say: it is here, on Chonhar, there is a way home,” summed up Oleksii Reznikov.
