Today two more families from temporarily occupied Donbas started to settle down in free provided apartments in Lyman, Donetsk oblast. That achievement was made possible through the cooperation of local bodies and the MTOT: 50% of the funds for the purchase of apartments granted due to the distribution of the government grant facilitated and coordinated by the MTOT, and another 50% allocated from local budget (the grant «works» on such terms)

Kateryna, her husband and children compile a military large family, internally displaced persons (hereinafter the «IDP») were provided with three-room apartment. Earlier having their own housing were beyond the reach and now married couple and their three children settle in a new place.

Oksana is also an IDP. As a result of war she had to leave her ancestral home. In Lyman woman quickly adapted and got a job as a medical worker, but the problem with housing remained unresolved. Today Oksana is happily invites to a new apartment.

«We are grateful for the activity local bodies and all those who joined the process of addressing housing issues for internally displaced persons. And this highly positive example for other communities: how can work be done quickly, efficiently and effectively», noted Vadym Chernysh

There are more than 600 of IDPs who were provided with free housing. Of course, this is far from meeting the needs in housing for all internally displaced persons, but with the active involvement of the MTOT the Government has been conducting distribution of grant for 3 years in a row (in 2018 and 2019 34 million UAH each) which double up in collaboration with local bodies and effectively spent to ensure housing for displaced persons across Ukraine.

So far, the following towns joined to obtain the grant: Mariupol, Lyman, Pokrovsk, Slaviansk of Donetsk oblast, Popasna and Zolote of Luhansk oblast, Berdiansk and Prymorsk of Zaporizhia oblast, and KryvyiRih of Dnipro oblast.
