WAYS TO RESOLVE THE ISSUE OF HOUSING FOR VETERANS AND IDPS WERE DISCUSSED BY THE MINISTER FOR VETERANS AFFAIRS AND REPRESENTATIVES OF THE VETERANS COMMUNITY AND LOCAL AUTHORITIES IN SUMY
During a working visit to Sumy, the Minister for Veterans Affairs, Temporarily Occupied Territories and Internally Displaced Persons of Ukraine Oksana Koliada met with the Acting Head of the Sumy Regional State Administration Irina Kupreychik. The meeting was also attended by a representative of the Council of Veterans under the Ministry, a Deputymayor of Sumy and the Heads of the Departments of the regional administration.
The most pressing issue in the Oblast is the conflict with carriers, who often refuse to transport persons with benefits, namely, combatants.According to the Minister, such situations can be prevented by a personal card of a veteran, which can be introduced after the launch of the Unified Register of Veterans. The card will allow paying for the ride.
Thus, the state will be able to pay money for transportation of the person with benefits under the most comfortable scheme and will deprive veterans of demanding this kind of social guarantee from drivers.
Another problematic issue in the Oblast was the problem of provision housing for veterans and IDPs.
«You should revive the issue of housing, especially for the families of the fallen and veterans with disabilities. Sumy Oblast is one of the few in which the family of the fallen heroes is still not provided with housing. You can also revive the activities in the cities on a subvention of 70 by 30 percent, where 70% is paid by the state and only 30% by the city and provide temporary housing for IDPs under this procedure», ‒ noted Oksana Koliada.
The meeting also discussed the need to define the profile of medical institutions that are ready to provide military veterans with quality treatment and rehabilitation services.
