THE SITUATION IMPOSED ON IHOR MAZUR HAS BEEN THE PRIMARY FOCUS OF THE MINISTRY FOR VETERANS AFFAIRS

The Ministry is ready to provide any assistance in negotiations with the Polish side in the situation with Ihor Mazur «Topol», who was detained today at the Polish border at EECP Dorohusk-Yahodin and provide all the necessary assistance to his family.

The International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol) detained Ihor Mazur at the initiative of the Russian Federation, when he, upon the invitation of the Polish ex-vice speaker, travelled to Poland.

Administration of the Ministry for Veterans Affairs is convinced that the Kremlin KGB officers are simply doing their job to infringe upon interests of Ukrainian patriots, and this is just another form of the hybrid war that Russia is waging against us.

Realizing the futility of any negotiations with our enemy - Russia, we urge the International Criminal Police Organization not to become the tool that the Kremlin is trying to use against our defenders.

It is disgusting that the aggressor country is not fastidious about any means to discredit Ukraine and its soldiers in the eyes of the international community, including international law enforcement practice. We are dead set against the extradition of our veteran Ihor Mazur to the Russian side!

The administration stands ready to support the family of Ihor Mazur, as well as human rights activists who will be involved in this matter.

Ihor Mazur, an activist and participant of the Revolution of Dignity, in 2014 was chairman of Right Sector in Kyiv Oblast and the Chief of Staff of the 24th Sotnia of Maidan Self-defence.

Since May 2014, he fought in the ATO zone in a volunteer battalion; in 2015 he joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine. After demobilization, he continued his community work, became the deputy chairman of Ukrainian National Assembly – the Ukrainian People's Self-Defence (UNA-UNSO) organisation.

In addition, Ihor Mazur is the specialist of the Secretariat of the Verhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights, an assistant to the People's Deputy of Ukraine and has state awards received for participating in the defence of the independence and sovereignty of Ukraine.

We wish Ihor's family grit and strength!

Justice Will Prevail!
