1 203 400 PEOPLE CROSSED THE CONTACT LINE IN THE EAST OF UKRAINE IN BOTH DIRECTIONS IN MAY

During May, 1 203 400 people crossed the contact line in the east of Ukraine in both directions. 896 300 out of them- through the EECP in Donetsk oblast, 307 100 people- through the EECP “Stanytsia Luhanska”

Comparing with April, there was recorded an increase in the number of crossings by civilian population in Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts in general by 6.86 % and also by vehicles decreased by -1.25%.

EECP “Stanytsia Luhanska” was crossed by 307 100 people and 0 vehicles;

EECP “Maiorske” was crossed by 288 900 people and 35 900 vehicles;

EECP “Marinka” was crossed by 266 100 people and 47 100 vehicles;

EECP “Novotroitske” was crossed by 221 500 people and 39 500 vehicles;

EECP “Hnutove” was crossed by 119 800 people and 27 800 vehicles;

Besides, humanitarian cargoes were delivered by international organizations through the EECP  “Novotroitske” on temporarily occupied territory; 92 tons of food products, 79 tons of building materials, and 22 tons of medication and medical equipment.

The citizens of Ukraine, living in the temporarily occupied territories, travel to the controlled area to visit families and to purchase the necessary goods and to obtain services, etc.

The Ministry for Temporarily Occupied Territories and Internally Displaced Persons of Ukraine is actively working on improving the convenience and speed of crossing of EECPs by citizens.

Today, on the initiative of MTOT, the Government of Ukraine has made amendments* that will allow to fund activities for the provision of temporary housing for IDPs and to equip Centers for administrative service provision (hereinafter referred to as CASP) in the ratio: 70% from the state budget, 30% from the local budget.
