Today, on June 11, there is a one-day working visit of Ukrainian officials to Minsk. The purpose of the visit is to hold consultations with members of newly appointed Government of the Republic of Belarus to maintain high intensity of bilateral contacts and to deepen cooperation in the field of security, interregional and cross-border cooperation.
The Ukrainian delegation headed by Oleksii Reznikov, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister for Reintegration of the Temporary Occupied Territories of Ukraine, includes, inter alia, Andrii Kostin, Head of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Committee on Legal Policy, Andrii Taran, Minister of Defence of Ukraine, Andrii Yermak, Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine and other officials.
A meeting with Deputy Prime Minister Yurii Nazarov is scheduled in the framework of the visit. A broad range of initiatives are on the agenda for a further intensification of bilateral cooperation.
“Our Government is 100 days old today, and the Belarusian has been renewed a week ago. We want to promptly pick up all the processes at the bilateral level so that there are no pauses. After all, Belarus is more than a neighbour or partner for Ukraine, there are many common subjects, from environment to security issues. Moreover, my colleague Andrii Taran, Minister of Defence of Ukraine is a member of the delegation. Many issues are of a complex nature, require coordination of all branches of the Government. That is why the delegation includes not only government officials, but also the Head of one of the key parliamentary Committees, Andrii Kostin. Specific emphasis will be given to interregional cooperation. Preparations for the third Forum of Regions of Belarus and Ukraine are now on the agenda, which is to be held in autumn in Hrodno with the participation of the Presidents of our countries. The Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Andrii Yermak will intercommunicate with his Belorusian vis-a-vis,” emphasized Oleksii Reznikov.
A separate meeting is planned during the visit between Andrii Taran, Minister of Defence of Ukraine and Viktor Khrenin, Minister of Defence of Belarus.
The Ukrainian delegation will return to Kyiv late in the evening.
