DESTINY OF UKRAINIANS AND CRIMEAN TATARS IS INTERTWINED FOREVER

On May 18, Ukraine and the whole world honour the memory of the Victims of the Crimean Tatar Genocide.

On the night of May 17-18, at 00:01, a video installation will be presented as an immaterial projection on the building of the Office of the President of Ukraine, which will remind everyone about the crimes of the Soviet authorities and the crimes of the Russian Federation against the Crimean Tatars. Also, on May 18, the installation will be shown at nightfall, approximately from 21:00.

Moreover, a video installation will be shown on the building of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, approximately at 21:00, on May 18, May 19 and May 20. Today, we join the Mejlis call and ask everyone to raise the Crimean Tatar flag with a mourning ribbon, and at 21:00 to light a candle of remembrance on the windowsill.

We remember the crimes of the Soviet regime. Criminals of the Soviet regime started the forced exile of Crimean Tatars from the Crimean Peninsula at three o'clock in the morning on May 18, 1944. Within two days, 180 000 Crimean Tatars were evicted from their homes. The exile and inhuman conditions in the places of banishment had disastrous consequences; tens of thousands of Crimean Tatars had died of illness and exhaustion. We all thought that such crimes had no place in the modern world, but the Russian Federation had violated all norms of international law and obligations. In 2014, Russia has infringed the territorial integrity of Ukraine, occupied Crimea and started the war in the East of Ukraine. Ever since the Russian administrations continue their military aggression against Ukraine, continue to commit crimes against the Crimean Tatars by intimidating, persecuting, imprisoning them. Pressure on Crimean Tatars, organization of ethnic and politically motivated persecution and persecution for religion is nothing else, but an ethnocide...

The Crimean Tatars gave the world not only outstanding warriors, such as combat flying ace Amet-khan Sultan. But also, remarkable intellectuals, like Ismail Gaspirali. The leader of the Crimean Tatar people Mustafa Jemilev is a living symbol of invincibility and selfless service to his people.

Nowadays Ukraine enthusiastically listens to Jamala and watches movies by Akhtem Seitablayev. On the other hand, the spiritual descendants of Stalin in the Kremlin are now again trying to destroy everything associated with the indigenous people. They distort the palace in Bakhchysarai and are frightened of the blue flag with a tamga. They are throwing innocent persons behind bars. It is the duty of Ukraine to do everything necessary for the Crimean Tatars to preserve their rights, culture, language and traditions.

The right of Crimean Tatars to live freely on their land will be restored, there is no other way. We will not stop the fight until we return the Ukrainian Crimea from under Russian oppression.

May 18 is also the Day of Struggle for the Rights of the Crimean Tatar People. On this day we want to once again remind the whole world and the aggressor state that Crimea is Ukraine and the time of occupants will soon pass. Bizim ve siziñ azatlığıñız içün - For your and our freedom!
