On October 13, 2020, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has adopted a decision to allocate UAH 185.04 million from the reserve fund of the state budget for the persons affected by the last large-scale fire in Luhansk oblast.

The funds were allocated within the joint initiative of the Ministry for Reintegration of the Temporary Occupied Territories of Ukraine (MRToT), the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the State Emergency Service of Ukraine and Luhansk Regional State Administration.

From the allocated amount, the families of the affected persons will receive financial assistance in the amount of UAH 200 000 for each deceased family member.

Each affected person who received serious injuries will be provided with UAH 50 000, and each affected person who received moderate injuries will be provided with UAH 30 000, and persons with minor injuries will be provided with UAH 20 000. In addition, the affected civilians will receive financial assistance to establish proper living conditions. The owners of residential buildings, which are completely destroyed in a fire, will receive UAH 300 000 per family, and families, who moved out of residential buildings that are subject to major repairs, will receive UAH 50 000 per family.

Let us recall, that at the end of September, there was a large-scale fire in Luhansk oblast, as a result of which 11 persons are deceased, and 19 persons were injured by fire and carbon monoxide poisoning. The total area destroyed by the fire was over 20 000 hectares. More than 250 buildings were destroyed by fire. Deputy Minister for Reintegration of TOT Rostyslav Zamlynskyi worked in the operational HQ in Luhansk oblast.

Several units and about 40 vehicles are still on duty in Luhansk oblast.

Unfortunately, this is not the first fire in Luhansk oblast in recent months.

On July 22, the Cabinet of Ministers on the initiative of the MRToT has allocated UAH 54.7 million from the reserve fund to compensate for losses suffered during the forest fire in Luhansk oblast in early July.

In August, the Cabinet of Ministers has allocated UAH 32.6 million for fire response measures in Luhansk oblast, which occurred in late July.
