GOVERNMENT BUILDING PRESENTED AN EXHIBITION OF ICONS PAINTED ON AMMUNITION BOXES
An exhibition of icons is a project of Kyiv artists Sofia Atlantova and Oleksandr Klymenko. The icons were exhibited in many countries around the world, in many European countries and the United States.
«The main idea of the art project is the transformation of military items, symbols of death into life, symbolized by icons. Each ammunition box containing the image has its own unique story, all of them are delivered from the combat zone, from the East of our country», ‒ said Oleksandr Klymenko.
In addition to symbolic help, art also brings quite practical benefits. The receipts from the icons sale go the Pirogov First Volunteer Mobile Hospital (hereinafter referred to as PFVMH) to support activities of its volunteer medics. Photos of volunteer medics are also presented next to the icons.
«The medics of our mobile hospital have been working in the combat zone from the beginning of the armed aggression of the Russian Federation, providing assistance to the wounded and injured soldiers, volunteers and locals. Over the years PFVMH has provided assistance to almost 60 000 people, mostly civilians of the frontline and those who live on the contact line and who no longer have anyone to ask for help», ‒ said Hennadiy Druzenko, Chairman of the PFVMH.
Minister Oksana Koliada, having visited the exhibition, said that such an initiative must be supported.
«These icons really should be seen by as many people as possible, moreover from different countries. It’s good that this exhibition is now presented here in the Government Building, let those who walk these corridors also see these icons and photographs of PFVMH medics who, risking their own lives, save those who are fighting for Ukraine and who have become a victim of armed aggression of the Russian Federation», ‒ noted Oksana Koliada, having seen the works of the exhibition
