Mayor Vadim Boichenko held a meeting with the Minister for Veterans Affairs, Temporarily Occupied Territories and Internally Displaced Persons Oksana Koliada. During the event, the Parties discussed issues of municipal programs to support displaced persons and combatants implemented in Mariupol.
During the conversation, they discussed the number of internally displaced persons in Mariupol, ATO veterans and families who lost relatives during the hostilities. Oksana Koliada enquired about the rehabilitation centres for servicemen and the actions being taken in this direction. The Mayor said that Mariupol became the first city to start up a social hostel for displaced persons.
«When realizing the project, the experience of Georgia was taken into account. We responsibly approached the resettlement program in order to create comfortable environment for the social adaptation of displaced persons. Also, last year 100 apartments were allocated», ‒ he said.
Deputy mayor Ksenia Sukhova noted that for combatants all medical services in the city are provided absolutely free of charge. «A separate hospital has been created. There is a centre for social support and adaptation of servicemen», ‒ she noted.
«First of all, the social responsibility of the state is to help people adversely affected by combat actions. We are developing a number of initiatives that will be aimed at material consideration. Programs will also work on providing housing for displaced persons on preferential terms», ‒ said Oksana Koliada.
At the end of the meeting, the mayor presented guests memorable gifts with the symbols of Mariupol.
