VALERIY KOLODOCHKA, DISPLACED PERSON FROM LUHANSK, ENTREPRENEUR
ValeriyKolodochka is a displaced person from Luhansk. After traveling around Ukraine, his family settled in Sievierodonetsk. The entrepreneur has opened his own business «Pan Mlynets», where he speaks only in Ukrainian with his guests.
In Luhansk, ValeriyKolodochka worked at a large bank,it was an international financial group. When the bank began to sharply reduce staff, he moved to the tourism business. In late 2013 - early 2014, he opened three businesses at once. His company «BahatohrannaUkraina» included a travel agency, a cafe and a pharmacy, says Ukrinform.
Everything had to be abandoned since the beginning of the war. The family left the occupied Luhansk, initially travelled to Ukraine, but decided to settle in Sievierodonetsk in Luhansk Oblast.
Life in a new place for Valeriy began with a travel agency. He rented a room in the mall, bought a table, a chair. At first he worked alone, and then he hired an assistant. That was in 2015, when few people wanted to go somewhere. The agency was not profitable.
Valeriy went to work in the state banking structure, where he worked for almost a year. Even after his release from the bank, he found on the Internet an advertisement for the sale of ready-made «on a turnkey basis» business. It was «Mlyntseva» (Pancake House) in a rented room. Over time, Valeriy's «Mlyntseva» moved to another location, also leased premises where the entrepreneur made repairs on his own.
Since 2016, the entrepreneur has been speakingin Ukrainian with all customers. It does not shock people, many also switch to Ukrainian. Some people come specifically to speak Ukrainian right here. One woman came with her daughter, saying: «I come to you to practice. Because there are few places you can come and hear your native language».
In fact, Valeriy was the first in Sievierodonetsk to open such an institution. After that, «Lviv Croissants» established there too.
Advancing the prospects
«Pan Mlynets» is a business for the IDP family; the recipe was developed with his wife. Toppings are original. There is a special Ukrainian pancake «Kozatsky» with bacon in the menu.
They also think about the expansion of the menu, next will be potato pancakes and dumplings. But there is not enough space because the kitchen is small.
«Pan Mlynets» is Valeriy's own trademark and he wants to build his own network. When he works out a full cycle at this location («Pan Mlynets» was opened in May of this year), he will look at the prospect.
«I would like to have two or three more locations in Sievierodonetsk, and to give other entrepreneurs the opportunity, through franchising, to open establishments in other cities», ‒ says Valeriy.
