THE MECHANISM OF OBTAINING A COMPENSATION FOR HOUSING THAT HAS BEEN DESTROYED AS A RESULT OF COMBAT ACTIONS IN DONBAS IS BEING IMPROVED
On 25th and 26th of February, representatives of the Ministry for Veterans Affairs, Temporarily Occupied Territories and Internally Displaced Persons of Ukraine, together with members of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Human Rights, Deoccupation and Reintegration of Temporarily Occupied Territories in Donetsk, Luhansk Oblasts and Autonomous Republic of Crimea and Sevastopol, National Minorities and Interethnic Relations held working focus groups through the Office of the Norwegian Refugee Council in Ukraine.
During which they considered the problematic aspects of the realization of the mechanism for obtaining compensation for housing that has been destroyed as a result of an emergency military situation caused by the armed aggression of the Russian Federation.
The main purpose of the event is to inform the affected persons, whose housing has been destroyed and representatives of local authorities, in particular, the civil-military administrations about the mechanism of obtaining compensation by affected persons.
During the work of the focus groups, persons whose houses were destroyed expressed their proposals for the mechanism, while local governments and civil-military administrations supported the position of the affected persons and proposed to simplify the mechanism.
“For all the years of the war, we were the first ones to cooperate with the affected persons and establish a dialogue with the local governments. The main purposeof this work is to "hear everyone" and to develop a really effective mechanism,” said Advisor to the Minister Artem Salikhov.
As of today, the draft resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine "Issue of payment of monetary compensation to the affected persons, whose houses (apartments) were destroyed as a result of an emergency military situation caused by armed aggression of the Russian Federation" has been approved by the interested parties in accordance with the Regulations of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine. The Ministry for Veterans Affairs is working on the proposals received and is preparing a draft for consideration by the Government.
