Last Friday on July 26 a municipal summer Employment Fair was held in the framework of the Project of MTOT in Zaporizhzhia

The Employment Fair is an event where almost all the best companies, institutions, and organizations in the region present themselves to potential future employees. This is very convenient for those who are looking for a job, because at the same time and place one can get acquainted with a large number of offers for official employment existing on the labor market.

Manufacturing facilities and service companies and, which is quite representative, even the National Police of Ukraine were presented at the Employment Fair.

«Employment for IDPs is important not only from the point of view of financial well-being, it is also an opportunity to establish new social connections and psychologically adjust to the new surroundings. If we talk about very young people who have graduated from school, then this is the age when the majority is just starting to find their place in society and create social connections, so it’s relatively easy for them to adapt in a new region, for example, students. But older people, who, due to difficult circumstances, had to leave their homes, were also left without previously established social connections, often without the support of relatives and in conditions of fierce competition in the labor market. It is also not so easy for ATO/JFO veterans to find a new decent job after returning to civilian life. Therefore, our project is aimed specifically at helping such people to obtain comfortable conditions for financial stability and psychological adaptation,» stated the First Deputy Minister Yusuf Kurkchi.

It is important to note that the Employment Fair is only one element from a set of activities implemented to help IDPs and ATO/JFO veterans within the framework of the Subproject «Perspective» - «Business Platform». The Subproject is realized by MTOT together with Zaporizhzhia Oblast State Administration.

The Subproject includes two components:

1) Expanding opportunities for income: this is a series of trainings, seminars, consultations, which are organized by NGO «SV-Platforma». Targeted categories of citizens are improving skills and opportunities for job hunting. Later on part of the training participants are sent to free training for retraining and gaining skills in new professions that are in demand in the region. And also there is an opportunity to get the knowledge necessary for starting your own business.

2) Also in the process of preparing for launch, the second component of the Subproject is the provision of psychological assistance, will also be provided to those who need it from among the IDPs and ATO/JFO veterans and their family members.

The Subproject itself is one of ten Subprojects implemented by MTOT in cooperation with the World Bank in the framework of the Project «Conflict Transition, Pilot Project on Restoration and Capacity Building».
