NEARLY 700 SITUATIONS WHICH CAN DESTABILIZE UKRAINIAN SOCIETY WERE RECORDED IN AUGUST

For a long time, the Russian Federation has been targeting its actions towards destabilizing Ukrainian society within the country and striving to make it vulnerable from the outside. MTOT daily records acts of vandalism, violence, religious provocations, illegal handling of weapons, recruiting, subversive activities and a number of other events. Research and analysis of information obtained from open sources conducted by MTOT shows that in August 2019 there were recorded 678 situations, most of which are messages about the mining of facilities.

For example, the largest number of such cases was recorded in Chernivtsi Oblast - 304, in Kyiv Oblast - 122, in Kharkiv Oblast - 85 cases.

Thus, on August 2, a message was received about the mining of almost two hundred structures in Chernivtsi. In particular, the anonymous reported that explosive devices are planted in all day-care institutions, universities and cafes in the city. Police units, investigative-operational groups, explosive ordnance disposal team and canine unit were immediately sent to these facilities. On August 20, this situation repeated and a messagewas received through 102 special lineabout the mining of nearly a hundred structuresin Chernivtsi.

On August 7, at about 1:30 pm., e-mail with information about the mining of 17 facilities in Kharkiv was received by the police. The report read that explosives were planted in the premises of the airport, 3 railway and 2 bus stations, a railway station, 3 subway stations, 4 residential buildings and 3 state institutions. In addition, Kharkiv law enforcement officers on August 12 checked information on the mining of 52 objects, the press office of the regional police reported. «Policereceived a message via e-mail about planting of explosives in the premises of 21 residential buildings, 22 shopping centres, 8 medical facilities and the airport», noted the police.

Also on August 12, the Capital Police checked reports on the mining of a number of facilities, including hospitals, maternity hospitals, and day-care institutions. This was reported by police spokeswoman Oksana Blishchik.

 

It is worth noting that in August of this year, 9 cases of explosives incidents were recorded.

Ivano-Frankivsk police officers are clarifying circumstances of the explosion, which killed two people: a man born in 1982 and his 36-year-old inmate. The investigation established that the conflict arose as a result of which man detonated two explosive grenades (RGD-5).

A message was received from the police office of Odesa Oblastthat two people were killed in the hospital of the regional center Rozdilna from a grenade explosion. A 54-year-old civilian, who could bring explosives came to a 44-year-old employee of the hospital’s catering section. During the inspection, it was found that the F-1 grenade exploded. Also at the site, law enforcement officers neutralized the RGD-5 grenade, which was activated and was in extremely dangerous condition, but the explosion did not occur.

Several similar cases occurred in August in the capital, including on August 19 in Podilskiy district, Kyiv, an excavator was blown up on the construction site, as reported by the press service of the capital headquarters of the National Police.

In addition, in Obolon district, Kyiv, an armoury with explosives was found in a garbage can. Warfare was found by a janitor on Akademika Navashyna Street, 9.

 

Also in August of this year, several cases of illegal trafficking of weapons were recorded.

In Zakarpattia, the Security Service of Ukraine exposed the illegal trafficking of firearms and ammunition. Intelligence service officers have established that a resident of Khust illegally stored small arms in his own house for sale. According to operational information, the felon was looking for clients, in particular, among representatives of criminal circles.

In Luhansk Oblast, employees of the Security Service of Ukraine involved in the Joint Forces Operation exposed servicemen of one of the Armed Forces units on the illegal trafficking of weapons. Law enforcement officers detained three servicemen and their accomplice near Sievierodonetsk.

 

«Hybrid actions» during conflict involve active use of indirect methods and the implementation of covert operations of a non-military nature.

For example, acts of vandalism associated with the destruction of monuments, memorial plates, and cemeteries and so on have been recorded for a long time in various Oblasts of Ukraine. Such actions aimed at undermining society and inciting hatred can be part of a plan to destabilize and weaken Ukraine at the international level.

It is worth noting that in August of this year, there wererecorded 8 facts of abuse of monuments to the soldiers of ATO/JFO. Majority of events took place in Zhytomyr Oblast.

So on August 1, 2019, in Novograd-Volinskyi, Zhytomyr Oblast, anonymous demolished monuments on the graves of ATO soldiers on the local Walk of Fame.

On August 24, 2019 near Zhytomyr vandals poured red paint on a monument to the defenders of Ukraine.

 

In accordance with the provisions on its activity, MTOT executes a number of measures to resolve issues related to conflict and vulnerable territories, and also has a prior work - to strengthen the stability of Ukraine in the face of challenges that are often artificially created from outside for its weakening.

Such measures include coordinating efforts on monitoring, data analysis and taking preventive measures to resolve conflicts within community, not only in the East but also throughout Ukraine.
