STATEMENT OF THE DIPLOMATS OF THE RUSSIAN FEDERATION ON «SUPPORT OF HUMANITARIAN BLOCKADE AGAINST DONBAS BY ESTONIA» IS MANIPULATIVE AND DOES NOT CORRESPOND TO THE ACTUAL SITUATION

06.08.2019 | 21:19

Estonia’s decision to support Ukraine in not recognizing of the Russian passports of residents of Donetsk and Luhansk Oblasts of Ukraine became a serious blow for the Russian Federation

This is borne out by the announcement of the Embassy of the Russian Federation in Estonia on «Estonian authorities' effective joining of the humanitarian blockade against Donbas».

However, this is another manipulative statement of Russian diplomats that does not correspond to the actual situation.

Estonia constantly supports Ukraine and helps population of Ukraine that is forced to live in occupation. That has become evident through the amount of funds provided by Estonia to help population of Ukraine as part of the Humanitarian Response Plan. This plan is compiled annually by UN agencies and humanitarian organizations in coordination with United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (UN OCHA) and MTOT, and covers both Government controlled areas and temporarily occupied territories, and provides for the humanitarian needs of civilians, including health, water supply, hygiene, education, food security, livelihoods, protection and so on.

Thus, during 2014-2019 within the framework of these plans Estonia provided at least 15.5 million UAH to UN agencies and ICRC to fund humanitarian assistance to population of Ukraine due to armed aggression of the Russian Federation in the East of Ukraine.

Grateful to the Government of Estonia for consistent and continuous support of Ukraine and Ukrainian population.
