MEETING OF THE DEPUTY MINISTER VIKTORIIA VORONINA AND THE HEADS OF DEPARTMENTS OF MTOT WITH DELEGATION OF GEORGIA
A meeting was held between the Deputy Minister for Temporarily Occupied Territories and Internally Displaced Persons of Ukraine Viktoriia Voronina and the Heads of the Departments of MTOT with the Delegation of Georgia on 1 July 2019
The meeting was held within the framework of the cooperation project with the Danish Refugee Council “Technical assistance to the Government of Ukraine using the experience of Georgia” which is being implemented with financial assistance from the Swiss Confederation.
The event brought together the Deputy Minister of IDPs from the occupied territories, labour, health and social affairs of Georgia Mamuka Tsotniashvili, mayor of Zugdidi Georgy Shengelia, project manager of the Danish Refugee Council Eka Gvalia and other representatives of the Government and local government bodies of Georgia.
During the meeting, the Heads of substantive Departments familiarized Delegation of Georgia with the activities of the Ministry, with implemented and long-term projects. In particular, they talked about projects and programs aimed at restoring territories affected by the armed aggression of the Russian Federation, maintaining connections with the civilians living in the temporarily occupied territory, and integration of internally displaced persons into host societies.
Summing up the meeting Viktoriia Voronina thanked the representatives of the Delegation of Georgia for sharing their experiences in the field of the protection of the rights of internally displaced persons, overcoming the barriers in the access of IDPs to livelihoods and in realization of their constitutional rights to obtain education and health care services.
